THINK OF ME AS A JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES WHEN IT COMES TO MEDIA.
I'VE SPENT MOST OF THE LAST THREE DECADES LEARNING TO MANIPULATE TECHNOLOGY AND MEDIA TO DO WHAT I NEED IT TO DO.
FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS I'VE WORKED AS A FULL-TIME FILM & MEDIA TEACHER, BUT, AS WITH MOST TEACHERS, I'VE WORN OTHER "HATS" AS A WEB ADMINISTRATOR, VIDEOGRAPHER, GRAPHIC DESIGNER, PHOTOGRAPHER, SOCIAL MEDIA MODERATOR - JUST TO NAME A FEW.
AND JUST TO KEEP THINGS INTERESTING, I'VE DONE FREELANCE VIDEOGRAPHY/PHOTOGRAPHY/WEB DESIGN WORK FOR VARIOUS LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS ON THE SIDE.

TECH BACKGROUND
1998-2003
UNIVERSITY OF
NEBRASKA-LINCOLN
BSED in Secondary Education - Theatre/English
In addition to working on my college degree, I spent a fair amount of time honing my HTML skills, designing and maintaining websites for local businesses, university organizations, and personal use using Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash. I also designed several websites for interactive student curricula and my personal teaching portfolio.
Growing With the Technology
My generation falls squarely on the fault line of living with modern computing technology, and not. A child of the 80s, I started programming games in BASIC on an IBM PCJr, blazed the Oregon Trail on an Apple IIe, designed greeting cards in PrintShop on the Apple IIGS, built my first desktop PC in high school, experienced the joys of dial-up, early social media (BBS -> ICQ -> AOL -> MSN -> MySpace -> Facebook), every evolution of Windows from 3.1 to 10 (except Vista... Vista was terrible) and worked with almost every version of a Mac from the color bubble iMacs to the modern day Mac Pro. I lived without a cellphone for almost 25 years before getting a sweet monochrome flip phone, a PalmTreo, and various Android/Apple models since.

Improvement of Instruction
A classic example of ABT (All But Thesis), I completed 33 hours, but after two bad thesis advisors and a bit of runaround from the University, I chose to move on sans degree. However, during this time I did complete film training through the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Visual Storytelling program.

I love teaching, and it turns out I'm pretty good at it too. In my tenure at South I've received the TAG Outstanding Theatre Educator Award (2012) and the Alice Buffet Outstanding Educator Award (2016). I've also spent that time honing my filmmaking and creative media skills for both personal and professional use.

FREELANCE
Media Projects
I continue to do media-related projects for organizations such as the Omaha Community Playhouse, Nebraska Theatre Caravan, Theatre Arts Guild (TAG), Bluebarn Theatre's Walk the Night, Omaha Symphony, Omaha South High, the Omaha South High Alumni Association, and even did some visual FX work on a feature film. In addition I've worked on projects for family, friends, and personal use, including weddings, headshots, and websites.
